The Pumpkin Express

This year we did something a little different than going to the pumpkin patch or nearby apple orchard to pick out our pumpkins. Instead, we took the kids to Osceola Wisconsin and rode the Pumpkin Express to a little town called Dresser.

The kids had an absolute blast riding the train to the pumpkin patch! It took about 30 minutes to get there and all of the train cars were decorated for Halloween. We went through some beautiful woods and farmland and then arrived at the pumpkin patch.

They had quite a few activities set up for the kids. With the train ride tickets we were able to pick out two free pumpkins for the kids. They jumped in the jump castle, ran around in the hay maze, and enjoyed some cheeseburgers for lunch. They also had a dogsled team there handing out information and Logan and Lily just went goofy petting those cute dogs!

They did also have a "haunted depot" and tractor pull rides but we didn't make it to those activities. The kids were happy doing the little kid stuff. After we picked out our pumpkins we waited for the train to pick us up and bring us back to the train station.

Lily really didn't want to pick out a pumpkin, she was starting to get tired and hungry and they were all too big for her to carry. She wouldn't give me her normal "cheese" smile so the picture above is as good as it gets this year!

The Osceola Train Depot is really cute! They have a little ticket window and gift shop as well as an old caboose that the kids can climb around in. Logan and Lily had a blast doing that while we were waiting for the train to take us to the pumpkin patch. All in all it was a delightful day. We might do it again when they are little bit older.

Mommy and Daddy were relieved and happy to be on the train home. It was a loooonnnngg day for us with the hour drive and keeping the kids in good spirits. I would do it again in a heartbeat though because they did have a great time. We dealt with the normal issues of getting tired and hungry but in the end our trip to Osceola and riding the Pumpkin Express was so much fun!
